This SmackDown was not John Cena’s SmackDown. Despite making a stellar entrance to the ring in the opening segment, John Cena’s wish to get into a fight with The Bloodline was delayed.

However, Cena got his wish granted in the final minutes of the showdown when he rushed to save AJ Styles as the latter was attacked backstage by Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso. There was still some gas left in Cena’s tank as a non-telecasted segment saw him embroiled in a dark match with Montez Ford.

After Styles was taken to the hospital following the brutal attack, Cena went to the ring to confront Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa only to be brutally beaten down by the duo. It led Uso and Sikoa to sign the contract for Fastlane while Cena did it earlier.

Leaving without a partner for Fastlane, Cena possibly felt devastated, but perhaps he needed to let out his rage somewhere. A clip of an untelevised brawl with Montez Ford depicted so.
