Let’s face it, Dwayne Johnson is unrivaled in terms of the charisma and electricity he brought to the ring during his heyday. The Great One is well-known as one of the most athletic wrestlers ever. After all, wrestling is deeply ingrained in his blood, as he is the son of the late great Rocky Johnson. However, despite his father’s reputation, Dwayne Johnson’s first opponent was not a fan of his work.

The Rock’s very first opponent was none other than Wolfie D, who was also a member of Nation of Domination. Their match came before the future Hollywood star debuted in WWE under the ring name ‘Rocky Maivia’.

As mentioned, before Dwayne Johnson made his debut in WWE, he wrestled his first match against Wolfie D in Jerry Lawler’s United States Wrestling Association. The Rock teamed up with Brickhouse and locked up against Wolfie D and James Dundee in a tag team match.

While speaking on “The Hannibal TV”, Wolfie recalled his experience facing The Rock in the ring. According to him, Johnson was hyped as the son of Rocky Johnson before the match but failed to live up to the expectations. He said, “I gave him a hip toss. He puts his hand down, does a cartwheel, and lands on his back. And I go over to the corner, look at Jamie, and I said, ‘Rocky Johnson’s son?’ He said, ‘Yeah.’ I said, ‘F**k, he s*cks”

It should be noted that their match was untelevised. Wolfie D, he and James Dundee appeared in several wrestling promotions including WCW, ECW, and WWE. Meanwhile, slowly but steadily The Rock went on to become one of the best talents ever in the wrestling business.

Nonetheless, the multi-time World Champion is recognized as one of the frontrunners of the Attitude Era alongside Stone Cold Steve Austin. In the same vein, Dwayne Johnson’s daughter, Ava Raine, has amassed numerous doubters at the moment as she embarks on her wrestling journey.

Ava Raine recently competed in the ring for the first time

Ava Rained made her debut on NXT in 2022 by joining a cult-like stable, Schism. However, the 22-year-old star waited for months until she finally competed in her first televised match. The fourth-generation star made her in-ring debut against Chase University at the Stand and Deliver premium live event earlier this year. Ava, however, found herself on the losing side.

She redeemed her loss on the June 6th edition of NXT, when she locked horns with Ivy Nile. Much like Dwayne Johnson, Ava received a lot of flak from the fans for her wrestling skills. But as time passes, Raine is only getting better.

This just goes to show that everybody starts somewhere. It will be interesting to see Raine hone her skills further to the point that she gets called up to the main roster. Until then, a lot remains to be seen.
