From the very point of his return to WWE in 2022, The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes has always given his very best in the ring. From having spectacular matches to perfect storytelling, Rhodes has stood out from much of the roster.

However, despite major accomplishments such as winning the 2023 Royal Rumble, and main-eventing WrestleMania 39, Rhodes is now falling short of a 40-year-old WWE superstar from SmackDown when it comes to the fans’ choice for winning the Money in the Bank briefcase.

Why is Cody Rhodes ranking behind the 40-year-old WWE SmackDown superstar?

Former NXT superstar and current SmackDown star LA Knight is arguably one of the most over and hottest stars on the roster currently. Despite being extremely impressive both on the mic and in the ring, Knight is yet to receive his due. He has been over the with live audiences and fans in general perceive him as a top star.

More than often, Knight has been overlooked by the management and is yet to receive a major push or a title opportunity on the main roster. However, WWE might have a chance to capitalize on Knight’s popularity and provide the WWE Universe with what they have been longing for.

Recently, on Instagram, a fan poll service revealed how 82% of WWE fans desire LA Knight to win the Money in the Bank briefcase. This may be because fans are enjoying Rhodes’ run against Lesnar and currently do not want him in the title picture anytime soon.

However, in WWE anything can happen. Winning the briefcase does not guarantee a title run. As fans saw with Austin Theory the push came too soon for him and he was unable to cash in for a world title opportunity.

However, all-in-all, fans expect to see Knight climb up the ladder in the O2 arena, and unlock the briefcase.

What has WWE planned for Cody Rhodes next?

The recent episode of WWE RAW saw Cody Rhodes involved in a segment against The Miz, Dominik Mysterio, and Rhea Ripley. With Rhodes’ arm injured, fans expect him to not compete anytime soon. While a third Rhodes versus Lesnar match is expected at SummerSlam, fans also expect Rhodes to compete in London.

At Money in the Bank, fans might witness Cody Rhodes going against Dominik Mysterio. At WrestleMania 27, a young Rhodes faced Rey Mysterio, and years later, a veteran Rhodes might face Mysterio’s son. A few years ago, Rhodes was snatched of his Money in the Bank opportunity by Damien Sandow. And it might also happen that he wins the briefcase this time.

However, no matter what the next few weeks will be interesting for both Cody Rhodes and LA Knight.
