In an official statement via ABC News, her family stated, “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinead. Her family and friends are devastated and have requested privacy at this very difficult time,” said the O’Connor family.

Despite her ability to captivate millions with her music, she once told Today’s Carson that she was “never meant to be a pop star.” She was more of a “protest singer” than anything else. By speaking out against child abuse, the legend became a beacon of hope for voiceless children.

In 2018, Sinead O’Connor converted to Islam, changing her name to Shuhada Sadaqat. O’Connor’s appearance was also altered as a result of her religious conversion. While she was widely compared to an eaglet due to her bald head, she later dressed according to the dress code of Islam.
Taking to Twitter, Sami Zayn, who belongs to the same faith, expressed how he felt a chill run through his spine when he first heard about her passing. Furthermore, Becky Lynch took to her Instagram Story to pay tribute to the departed legend, calling her “An Icon”
