Former Mr. Money in the Bank Otis has been enjoying grilling burgers in his backyard. The man he lost the briefcase to, The Miz, just got his head kicked off by Drew McIntyre on Raw. It is safe to say that Otis does not seem to be adversely affected by the loss, nor by the betrayal by his tag partner Tucker. Otis posted a tweet grilling sirloin burgers and popping a cold one, à la Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Otis has been used as a comedy wrestler

Otis might seem like the last person on Earth that would be friends with the Texas Rattlesnake. The man is a comedy wrestler, drawing comparisons to NJPW’s Toru Yano. He won the Money in the Bank briefcase by sheer dumb luck, and his run with the briefcase was a complete joke. Austin replying to his tweet seems more like a once-in-a-lifetime experience than a budding friendship.

Otis did not seem like a legitimate threat to any of the World Champions on either brand. Even while both champions were injured, he could not seem to get the job done. Hence, taking the contract off him seemed like the correct decision.

Otis has had a stellar 2020

Otis has had quite a stellar year. He started off by wooing Mandy Rose and knocking off Dolph Ziggler at WrestleMania 36. The Show-Off lost his very first WrestleMania singles match to the more charismatic member of Heavy Machinery. While the WWE rewarded Ziggler with a WWE Championship match against Drew McIntyre, Otis’ popularity made the company push him to the main event.

After winning the Money in the Bank contract and wooing Mandy Rose, he had no clear direction. There was no way he could have beaten either Braun Strowman, Roman Reigns, or Drew McIntyre for their titles. He was stuck in a feud with John Morrison and The Miz, who even attempted to steal his briefcase on multiple occasions.

The feud was ready to be settled in a match at Hell in a Cell with the briefcase on the line. At the PPV, Otis looked set to retain the briefcase when John Morrison interrupted. As Morrison was being admonished by the referee, Otis’ tag partner Tucker nailed him in the head with the briefcase, gifting Miz the win and the guaranteed match for the WWE Championship.

The WWE Draft 2020 has separated Heavy Machinery. Otis has been grilling burgers and drinking beer, which is much better than the treatment Tucker is getting on Raw. The man was beaten by Ricochet in about forty seconds and was destroyed by Retribution.

Once Otis returns to SmackDown fans will see what’s in store for him as he embarks on the post Mr. Money in the Bank era.
