The story is yet to finish and Cody Rhodes working on it every week. After assistance from Solo Sikoa, Roman Reigns was able to defeat The American Nightmare at WrestleMania 38. Many fans in the arena went silent after ‘The Tribal Chief’ won. But the silence was not for Reigns, it was for Rhodes who didn’t win the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.

Fast forward, three months down the road, the 2023 Men’s Royal Rumble winner completely opened up on that moment. He shared about the emotions that were in the air at the Grandest Stage post his defeat.

Apart from performing every week in WWE, Cody Rhodes is also promoting his upcoming documentary. As part of the promotion, he is appearing in interviews where he got a question regarding WrestleMania 39 loss against Roman Reigns.

Recently, while appearing on Sports Illustrated, he recalled his actual feelings that night. Rhodes shared WWE stars sometimes get stuck in a few moments of their careers. Similarly, this is the moment he is still stuck in until now.

The American Nightmare said, “There was a very long period of time when I was sitting in the ring. I knew I was sitting in the ring, I knew I had lost. I’m watching people not leave, they’re looking at me and they’re either frustrated or they’re sad for me, they’re mad at me.”

The former two-time Intercontinental Champion added, “But you usually see at the end of the night, some people head for the aisles and there is gonna be traffic, something.” 

After the match, Rhodes was sitting in the ring while The Head of the Table stood on the ramp raising his titles. Even in Roman Reigns’ victory, a large number of fans in the SoFi Stadium were emotionally devastated over the Rhodes’ loss. At the time, Rhodes also had an internal monologue.

The WrestleMania 39 defeat against Roman Reigns was a painful moment for Cody Rhodes and the fans. Many wanted him to finish his story at WrestleMania this year, but it didn’t happen.

However, after the loss he had a monologue with himself telling him to get up and walk off. But Rhodes wasn’t going to walk through on “loser lane”. He told the host wanting to feel every bit of that loss while walking through the “70-yard ramp”.

Nevertheless, Rhodes is happy about the fact he main evented a WrestleMania and wants to do more in the future. As of now, he is in a feud with Brock Lesnar, that might culminate at SummerSlam.
