Despite Cody Rhodes leaving AEW in 2022, he still continues to receive a lot of love from fans of the rival promotion. But in addition to love, there is also an equal proportion of disdain as well. Some of his fellow wrestlers are still upset with him joining WWE in spite of being the Executive Vice President back then.

One of them seemingly being Christian Cage who is the top heel in AEW now. And ‘Captain Charisma’ is in no mood to play around with Cody Rhodes

But on this week’s episode of Collision, Cage entered the ring proudly holding the title like he was the champion while Luchasaurus looked on. And while addressing a lot of issues, Captain Charisma sounded a warning bell in all of AEW by saying, “And I, we, will remain the face of TNT now and forever!”

But while spitting all this fire, Cage didn’t miss out on a chance to belittle Cody Rhodes who created the TNT Championship almost 3 years ago. He angrily said, “I’m not going to sit here and act like I created this championship. . . this isn’t gonna be a Vanity Project like another guy who used to ride the Rhodes here in AEW. But  Ido promise you this, I will take this Championship to new heights. I will make this Championship the most prestigious and sought after Championship in AEW.”

Fans are still waiting to see The American Nightmare’s reaction to this direct dig by Cage.

But let’s talk a bit about the origin of the TNT Championship.

A little history about the TNT Championship

In 2020, AEW launched its secondary title, the TNT Championship. It was named after the TNT television network, which currently airs AEW’s Collision. In the past, it has also aired AEW’s other weekly programs Dynamite and Rampage.

After launching the title, a single-elimination tournament was announced involving eight wrestlers to decide the first-ever TNT Champion. The final match of the tournament took place at AEW’s PPV ‘Double or Nothing’ between Cody Rhodes and Lance Archer. Rhodes defeated Archer to become the inaugural TNT champion. Mike Tyson himself presented the championship to ‘The American Nightmare.’
