WWE to Crown the Greatest Wrestler Ever on Monday Night RAW

Randy Orton will be introduced as the greatest wrestler ever on the 22nd June edition of RAW by WWE legend, The Nature Boy, Ric Flair.

Ric Flair was a mentor guide and a friend to Randy Orton, a then up and coming superstar in the business. Since then The Legend Killer has gone on to become a 13-time world champion, 2-time Royal Rumble winner, and certainly a future Hall of Famer.

At Royal Rumble 2020 Edge returned after nine years and eliminated Randy Orton, this sparked a new rivalry. Orton attacked Edge’s wife Beth Pheonix on RAW and challenged Edge at WrestleMania. Edge accepted the challenge. Edge defeated Randy Orton at WrestleMania 36 in the last man standing match.

After Wrestlemania Randy Orton challenged Edge to a wrestling match at the Backlash PPV. Edge accepted the challenge. Given the legacy of these superstars and their achievements, this match was billed to be the greatest wrestling match ever.

In the build-up to the greatest wrestling match ever WWE superstars and legends were asked to offer their two cents on the results of the match. The Nature Boy, unsurprisingly, backed Randy Orton.

At Backlash both Edge and Orton brought their A-Game to the table. They used every move in their arsenal. That wasn’t enough, they used signature moves of legendary Superstars like the Pedigree, Frog Splash, and The Rock Bottom.

In the end, Orton had to pull out a move he hadn’t used for many years. Orton punted Edge’s head, pinned him to three and won the match.

Edge suffered some serious injuries which didn’t go down well with best friend and former WWE Superstar Christian.

On RAW after Backlash, Orton challenged Christian to a non-sanctioned match on RAW as WWE would not sanction a match due to his medical condition. Christian accepted his challenge.

In a backstage segment, Ric Flair is seen talking to Christian, trying to persuade him to pull out of the match. Ric Flair tries to make Christian understand that Orton is at the top of his game, however, Christian doesn’t listen.

As soon as the bell rang, The Nature boy gave a low blow to Christian. Flair lived up to his reputation as the dirtiest player in the game. Randy Orton then punted Christians head out and won the match. Indirectly sending a message to Edge.

Ric Flair will be on RAW this week, to display Randy Orton as the Best Wrestler in the World. A good moment for Randy Orton given the fact he will be honored by his Mentor. The man who has played a big part in Orton being what he is today.
