Following a recent heated conversation with Ric Flair backstage, Kevin Owens has challenged Randy Orton to a match on the next episode of Monday Night Raw.

Owens was infuriated when Ric Flair told him that he was becoming like a guidance counselor. This was a hint at his role in Apollo Crews’ and Rey Mysterio’s feuds.

Owens went so far as to say he was doing a better job than Randy Orton at being a locker room guy. He then challenged Orton to a match. The same was confirmed by WWE a few hours later.

“The Legend Killer” is on a roll. He has put down a number of Superstars that dared get in his way. The revival of this gimmick from the early days of his career has made him stronger than ever before.

In essence, we are seeing peak Randy Orton. Bringing back his banned move, Orton has knocked out most of his opponents with the “Punt Kick”. The most notable of his victims are Edge, Christian, and Big Show.

He will be facing “The Scottish Psychopath” Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam who is on a bit of a kill-streak himself. McIntyre has annihilated every challenger for his title since he won it at WrestleMania. His claymore kick is one of the most devastating finishers in WWE today.

Kevin Owens should not take the fall for Randy Orton’s storyline

Orton wouldn’t mind keeping his boots in condition by taking out Kevin Owens, as a warm-up. He can make yet another example to Drew before facing him. This is what WWE may be going for. That’s what I think is a bad idea.

Kevin Owens is no man to face the brunt of anybody. Making him lose to Randy Orton will be making him take an unnecessary fall for the promotion of Randy Orton.

Making a guy like Kevin Owens a stepping stone for another Superstar is what WWE should not be doing under any circumstance.

For all we know, K.O. may just pick up the win. Given a side role in two consecutive storylines now, fans are dying to see Owens head into a major role once more.

Essentially, we want to see heel Owens back again. His character perfectly fits that role, and keeping him away from it is just a waste.

Defeating the biggest name in the business right now would certainly be a feather in his cap. It would also be just the platform he needs to return to the main storyline.

I don’t know about all those who have stopped watching Raw during the pandemic, but I for one will not miss it. A lot more time and money must be invested in Kevin Owens. He is, after all, a spectacular heel.
