“I Wanted the Screen for Myself”- Charlotte Flair Reveals Issues Working With Father Ric Flair in WWE
Charlotte Flair is having a great time back in WWE after a long break last year which saw her fall down the pecking order. However, upon return, she re-entered the championship picture immediately.
However, the infamous Lacey Evans, which also included Charlotte’s father, WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair, was uncomfortable for the “Queen.” While he is her father, Charlotte really didn’t appreciate him being in yet another one of her storylines.

“It is very difficult with my dad. I had an extensive amount of time off for the first time ever in my career, I was eager and excited to come back and start fresh. I wanted to add layers to my characters as I felt stale. I wanted these changes,” she explained, speaking to Hindustan Times.
“When my dad got brought into the picture, I was like man it’s 2021, and I don’t want to share the screen with my dad,” she stated. “I am Charlotte Flair now, I am no longer Ric Flair’s daughter, that’s Charlotte’s dad. I was like why I have to be on TV with my dad?”

Charlotte stressed that she had done enough to be her own character and didn’t want to be tied down as the daughter of Ric Flair. She wanted her own stage, and deservedly so.
“I don’t want anyone to think that is selfish, anyone would love to share the screen with their dad. But if anyone’s followed my career, all I have done since day one is pave my own legacy,” Charlotte said. “Yes, I do a lot of his personal trademarks but it is also to acknowledge me as a separate performer. So that’s why I was frustrated at home because selfishly I wanted the screen for myself and not with my dad.”

Charlotte has made this point abundantly clear and has been doing her best work on her own since day 1. Rather than being tied to her father’s greatness, she wants to have the throne for herself. And she builds on her own legacy every day in the business.
When it comes to achievements, Charlotte Flair is already living up to the name, and sooner or later, everyone bows down to the Queen.
