Cody Rhodes sent shocking waves around the pro wrestling world after he parted ways with AEW. Ever since then, several individuals have offered their take on this situation.
Cody, who has a major role in the rise of AEW today, is now a free agent. He severed as the Executive Vice President for AEW. He is the inaugural and three-time AEW TNT Champion. Thus, his AEW exit was a big surprise for everyone.
But soon after his departure, there sparked rumors of Cody Rhodes returning to WWE. Addressing Cody’s AEW exit during an episode of the 83 Weeks Podcast, Eric Bischoff said it did not surprise him. In fact, Bischoff claimed Cody’s WWE exit surprised him more than his AEW exit.

Eric said, “I’m not surprised, not nearly as surprised as everyone else is. I was more surprised that Cody left WWE. You’re 30-years-old, on the biggest stage in the world in your particular industry and yeah, you might be saddled with a character or gimmick that you don’t particularly like but you’re making damn good money.”
“You could probably retire in 5-10 years if you were smart, or less. But he was willing to walk away from that because he wasn’t satisfied. Reminded me of his dad,” he added. (H/T: Cultaholic)
The WCW legend admitted Cody reminded him of his dad, WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes. He recalled Dusty was also never satisfied and wanted something bigger. Eric Bischoff added Dusty Rhodes believed in himself and was even willing to walk away if needed.
