WWE might bring the Lucha Libre vibe back into the lore by actively tipping the newly crowned Hall of Famer ‘Mysterio’ into current storylines on the road to WrestleMania. Still, he is nowhere to be found in the features for the year’s biggest show! Additionally, there has been enormous buzz about the greatest Luchador’s likely retirement since last year. And now in a turn of events, Mysterio has seemingly affirned the rumor by breaking his Kayfabe in a TikTok video.

Rey Mysterio comes out of his Masked Man image in a playful father-daughter video

Rey Mysterio’s storyline took a tragic turn on the November 10th edition of SmackDown edition when his longtime ally Santos Escobar turned heel against him and hit him to the point of sidelining him with an injury. The angle was meant to offer the Mexican legend sufficient time off for his real-life knee injury.

After a successful meniscus surgery, Mysterio waltzed back to the squared circle earlier this month and resumed his hostility toward Escobar. It culminated in his loss against the Emperor of Lucha Libre with his son Dominik Mysterio’s interference at a later episode of the Blue brand. And fans couldn’t refrain from anticipating a dream retirement match involving the father-son. Amidst that speculation, the 49-year-old appeared mask-less in a TikTok video alongside his daughter.

It was not a regular Mysterio thing by any means. Hence, the rare perfidy toward his iconic masked character was widely taken as the final hint of him singing off shortly.

Fans ‘fear’ an imminent retirement seeing Rey Mysterio’s rarely revealed face in a TikTok clip

There had been multiple attempts to take his signature mask off his face in the course of his decades-long career in WWE. But most failed abruptly as Mysterio held his mask tight. Consequently, his casual unmasked appearance, and that too on a TikTok video forced fans to anticipate an inevitable end of his time in the promotion.

One fan was quick to point out how the legendary wrestler’s face was no longer a secret to the world!

This fan compared Mysterio’s possible exit from WWE with the end of the world, quite possibly how every ardent fan would feel!

Another lamented the end of an era, and truthfully so! All in all a similar tone among the fans altogether.

Mysterio was forced to unmask during his WCW days after a tag team match defeat against Kevin Nash & Scott Hall, also known as New World Order (nWo) with Konnan by his side. A few fans tried to find a ray of hope in that incident at WCW SuperBrawl IX in 1999, convincing themselves that Mysterio taking his mask off might not be a retirement indicator.

And exhibiting a similar theme, lastly, this fan restated that his face was revealed long back!

However, there is a difference between being forced to strip off the mask and taking it off intentionally for a TikTok dance video. Nonetheless, if and when he walks out of the ring for the last time, it would be heartbreaking for his fans. At least the common sentiment in the fan reactions indicates so!
