Wrestlers may portray a tough persona on screen but off it, they are humans after all. And when a performer is a heel character, there can be a stark difference between their professional and personal lives. That holds true for SmackDown Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley who broke her villainous character recently, in order to show love to fierce on-screen rival Rey Mysterio going on a date.

Ripley along with Dominik Mysterio has been a constant thorn in senior Mysterio’s path. But moments such as these display her real self to the public. The Master of 619 recently went on a date with his wife Angie Gutierrez and Ripley’s social media activity turned many heads.

Rhea Ripley breaks character to like Rey Mysterio’s wife’s post

Gutierrez posted a beautiful image with an unmasked Mysterio on Instagram. The caption to the post read, “My date tonight, mi AMOR ETERNO (my eternal love)”. Naturally many fans were appreciative of the picture and so was Ripley who also liked it.

She may be a sworn enemy of “The Biggest Little Man’ in WWE programming but seems to be one of his biggest admirers in real life. Having spent so much time on the road during a long and arduous career, Mysterio deserves all the time he gets to spend with his better half.

“She Gave Me an Ultimatum”: Rey Mysterio’s Dependence on Pain Killers Led to a Tense Situation Between Him and His Wife

The former world champion spoke of the ultimate sacrifice that Gutierrez made to ensure he advanced in his wrestling career. Mysterio spoke about it in detail in his 2023 WWE Hall of Fame speech.

Mysterio recently reminisced about Guiterrez’s ultimate sacrifice for him

He reminisced about a tough period during his struggling days in the business. And how Guiterrez gave up on her career dreams so that he can pursue his. A teary-eyed Mysterio said, “What Angie did was, she was studying medicine at the time and she literally put her medical career aside, got a job, and would send me money”.

The couple has been married for 27 years and has been through different phases of life together. No wonder they are receiving love from all quarters for Gutierrez’s post.

Despite being on-screen rivals, Ripley showed love and respect for the personal life of Rey Mysterio.

As is apparent by her Instagram like she is appreciative of the long and fruitful bond between the legend and his partner. She is not alone as many poured in with their love for the couple.
