Hence, the Superstar’s ethnicity is Half Samoan-Half Italian.

His origin stems from the infamous Samoan Wrestling Family that gave fans some of the renowned pro-wrestlers such Rikishi, Umaga, Afa Anoa’i, Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso, and several others.

Is The Rock related to Roman Reigns?

More often than not, The Rock and The Tribal Chief are regarded as cousins. However, their relationship as cousins is not via blood, but via a connection that has been bestowed upon them by previous generations.

The Anoa’i family’s Reverend Amituana’i Anoa’i and The Maivia family’s Peter Maivia (Dwayne Johnson’s grandfather) were blood brothers. This means they were not born in the same family, but became brothers in nature after the loyalty they showed each other.

Since the time Peter Maivia became an honorary member of The Anoa’i family, the following generations have been granted the same honor as well. Therefore his son-in-law, Rocky Johnson, and grandson, Dwayne Johnson, became part of Reigns’ family.

In this regard, The Rock and Reigns are cousins. However, The Rock believes that the connection and bond is bigger than family by birth. Hence, they have never treated each other like anything less than family. And, within the Samoan culture, family holds the highest virtue.
