Will Hobbs was part of the QTV stable that Marshall led in AEW. As part of a storyline, there was an inclination from other creative inputs that Marshall be Hobbs’ manager. CM Punk didn’t want this for Marshall. The latter had the same thought process as otherwise he would have to work twice a week.
As a result, due to the creative differences, Marshall stayed put on the decision. He eventually left the promotion and reports suggested that this was influenced by CM Punk. In a recent interview, QT Marshall explained everything.

The former AEW wrestler said, “I know there were reports that he [CM Punk] kept me off of TV, and we actually talked about it. We agreed. Neither of us wanted me to be Will Hobbs’ manager. Then I also had to work Saturdays and Wednesdays.” He further added, “So when him and I spoke about the idea that he didn’t want me with Will Hobbs, I was like yeah, let’s sign me up for that one because I’d rather only work on Wednesdays.”
Although “The Best in the World” shared the same views as Marshall on this one, the decision was taken by the latter, freeing Punk’s name of the accusations. Apart from clearing his name from the blame, Marshall also had some nice things to say about his former colleague.
Despite the difference in their workplaces, Tony Khan’s former associate didn’t have anything bad to say about the Chicago-based wrestler. On the contrary, he praised CM Punk for being the ‘realest’ person backstage in AEW during their time in the company together.
