Professional wrestling is not an easy sport for an athlete to make a living out of it in their initial years. Along with scheduled matches, training, and appearances, several wrestlers have done a day job simultaneously. Similarly, one-half of Unified WWE Tag Team Champion Sami Zayn, too, did a few of those before going as a full-time wrestler.

‘The Honorary Uce’ made a huge name on the independent circuit, but before that, he worked a few jobs that he shared recently.

The former ‘Honorary Uce recently appeared on the Whiskey Ginger w/ Andrew Santino. They had a chat on several topics starting from they both looked similar to Zayn’s wrestling career. Santino asked, “Did you had any shi**y jobs when you were wrestling to supplement your life?”

The 38-year-old said, “I had two I think. The grocery store is probably the bigger one; a small local Greek-owned place. Grandma Shay Colfax and Laval if you are watching…Laval, Quebec.”

Furthermore, the former three-time Intercontinental Champion added, “I once worked as a seasonal worker for Toys R Us…You know for Christmas they get crazy. I got hired for like a month. They let me go fast.”

The Unified WWE Tag Team Champion recalled being late at his Toys R Us job and also, doing telemarketing for a while. Clearly, this working background might’ve helped Zayn to pick several points for a wrestling gimmick by observing his surroundings.

Moreover, all that struggle he went through working in his initial days paid off today, as he is one of the most loved WWE superstars. A few weeks ago, WWE legend and Hollywood star John Cena also praised the former NXT Champion for his work with The Bloodline on the same show.

The 38-year-old is  20 years into the business and recently shared when he thought of making pro wrestling his living. Zayn said, “I think the first year was 2008, for me it was only at the time, ‘I’m six years into the business! And I’m making 20 grand a year! I don’t need any other job, that’s it, that’s my living now.”

He added, “I’ve been very lucky like the 20 turned into 40 the next year which turned into 50 over time and gone up. It is great and it continues to go up.”
