If you have been paying attention to Dwayne Johnson’s NBC sitcom Young Rock, you will know that it has been a hot topic of conversation among the pro wrestling fandom. Many have taken a liking to the show, which portrays The Rock’s journey from his teenage days to the top of WWE. But others have criticized the comedy-drama for its casting choices of various iconic WWE stars.

But now the latest episode of Young Rock has given fans another topic for debate and discussion. Season 3 episode 8, features the build-up to SummerSlam 1998. The event saw The Rock compete against Triple H in a Ladder Match. The episode showcases a wrestler clad in denim and having a ponytail called Chad Frost trying to sideline DJ behind the scenes and badmouth him to the higher officials. Although the show or Johnson himself doesn’t mention who the Chad Frost character is in actual life, fans have pretty much figured it out for themselves.

Fans believe Chad Frost is the iconic WWE star

Young Rock had no problems in trying to portray many iconic names from WWE when The Rock was getting started. The show has seen the likes of “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Triple H, and The Undertaker clearly portrayed but the inclusion of Chad Frost raised some eyebrows. As fans of a certain vintage would know, there has been no wrestler by that name in WWE during the timeline projected in the show.

In the episode, Frost is seen manipulating Vince McMahon as he tries to sabotage The Rock’s rise in the company. A look at Chad Frost and his ‘evil’ portrayal has many fans believing that is none other than WWE legend Shawn Michaels. In fact, Chad even suffers an injury which opens up a spot in the main event. Shawn Michaels and The Rock had real-life heat due to an incident involving DJ’s grandmother. The tensions between them escalated further after HBK landed a hard superkick on The People’s Champion in one of their in-ring encounters. Moreover, Bret Hart has even mentioned that Shawn Michaels gave The Rock a really hard time early in his career.

In the voiceover of the episode, DJ mentions that the “guy never turned out to be a friend” and says it is a pseudonym for another wrestler. The show doesn’t openly mention that it is Michaels but wrestling fans were smart enough to conclude the true identity of Chad Frost.
