The Undertaker has refused to do anymore cinematic matches scripted by WWE.

During an interview with New York Post, he revealed that the Boneyard Match against AJ Styles at WrestleMania was his last cinematic match. It was during this match that he knew his body was gradually giving up.

“I realized I have taken every physical gift, tool that I have and have used it up. There’s no water left in the sponge, if I can use that analogy. I’ve rung everything I could get out of that sponge.”

WWE fans, along with The Undertaker, realized that he could extend his career using cinematic matches. These matches are less taxing on the body and receive brilliant responses from the audience.

Unfortunately, ‘The Deadman’ believes that because of his gradually depleting energy, he cannot deliver performances that fans expect out of him. He did not want to compromise on his performance just to extend his career.

“It really doesn’t appeal to me because basically what it is, is working around my limitations. It’s capitalizing on some of my ability and some of my creative ability to tell a story but basically it’s trying to mask some of the lack of my physical abilities at this point.”

The only exception for The Undertaker

Vince McMahon is the only person he will consider featuring in another cinematic match for.

The Undertaker revealed that McMahon and him share a bond that cannot be broken. Hence, if Vince McMahon tells him to step inside the ring, he will find it difficult to say no.

“If Vince feels like there’s still something there, I have a place on the roster, then I had no problem doing it. That’s where the internet and all that stuff kind of show up, ‘Just let him retire, just let him do this, let him do that.’ I’m a grown man. I can walk away anytime I want.”

Survivor Series 2020 will be the event when The Undertaker officially retires. The company is preparing to bid the Superstar a grand farewell.

However, Superstars have often retired and then made brilliant comebacks. Hence, WWE Universe might just get to see a few more Undertaker showdowns.
