“These Days So F’n Tough”: Dwayne Johnson Reacts to WWE Releasing Top Talents Like Dolph Ziggler a Few Hours After Signing a $1.4B Deal

As a product of the $21.4 B TKO merger aftermath, WWE has been going through major changes. First, the sports entertainment Giant signed a $1.4B deal and then it started laying off its employees. So far, more than 100 employees have been released.
Among these people, 20+ are wrestlers, Dolph Ziggler, Mustafa Ali, and Emma to name a few. The numbers may increase more in the upcoming days. That said, being a former pro wrestler himself, Dwayne Johnson reacted to WWE releasing its stars.
Dwayne Johnson sympathizes with released WWE stars

Going to his official X account, Johnson stated that he feels devastated seeing the Stamford-based promotion releasing its wrestling talents. He sympathized with the released wrestler, saying that he understands how tough it might be for them to get laid off from the promotion.

Singling out Dolph Ziggler in particular, he expressed his admiration for the 2x World Heavyweight champion. He praised Ziggler and gave him hope for a better future. In the end, he stated that he was eager to see how would Ziggler utilize all his talent and skill in the pro wrestling industry.

This is not the only big change WWE has introduced after its merger with UFC.
WWE signs a billion-dollar deal with USA network
According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, the USA Network has signed a five-year agreement with WWE for broadcasting rights. As a part of the deal, the Stamford-based promotion will bring WWE SmackDown to the USA Network in October next year.

From the year 2019 to the present, FOX has the broadcasting rights for WWE’s Blue Brand show. Prior to that, SmackDown aired on FOX. Once again, it will be coming to FOX once again in October 2024. According to CNBC and The Wall Street Journal, the deal is worth $1.435 billion over five years, an average of $287 million per year.
This is just the beginning. With now Endeavour holding the majority reins of WWE, more changes are for sure to come. We don’t know what these changes might be, but we do hope that no more WWE stars get released from the company.
