When WWE went to Saudi Arabia for the Night of Champions in May, it was evident that Sami Zayn was the Saudi fan favorite. After being banned for years, when he finally stepped foot in the country, he received a hero’s welcome from the Saudi Arabian WWE Universe.

After Zayn, it seems like Rhea Ripley has now become the new beloved fan favorite of Saudi Arabian fans. Here are three reasons why we believe so.

Saturday’s PLE was full of interesting matches and segments. But one thing that caught the fans’ attention was Ripley’s entrance. It was not her usual entrance. WWE had prepared something special for her. Green lights illuminated the stadium as around 14 traditionally dressed men formed two lines to welcome ‘Mami’ to the ring.

The Stamford-based promotion gave a proper welcome to the Women’s World Champion before her fatal five-way match against Shayna Baszler, Nia Jax, Raquel Rodriguez, and Zoey Stark. All the challengers had their normal, usual entrances except the champion.

The Saudi Arabian fans welcomed Ripley with loud cheers

When Ripley made her entrance, the energy inside the arena charged tenfold. As the audience caught sight of the champion emerging from a dense cloud of green smoke, they popped so loud it was deafening. The Mohammed Abdu Arena was filled with roars of excitement that spewed inside the building as she made her way to ring.

It was evident the WWE Universe was extremely excited to see her perform inside the ropes. Throughout the bout, fans cheered for the champion like their life depended on it. If that doesn’t tell how much fans love ‘The Eradicator’, then we don’t know what will.

WWE gave Ripley a major victory in Saudi Arabia

Out of all five women contenders, ‘Mami’ came out on top, like she always does. But does it mean something? Well, we think it does. The chances of Ripley winning were 1/5, but still, she defeated all odds to retain her title. This means that WWE wanted her to win the match. But why?

WWE always gives their fans what they most desire. Considering the love and support Ripley has been getting for the past months, ending her reign was not in the equation. WWE knew she was a fan favorite, which means keeping her on top of the women’s will benefit the promotion the most.
