Dominik Mysterio has come a long way since aligning himself with The Judgment Day a year ago. His brutal betrayal of Rey Mysterio, his father and WWE Hall of Famer, and the continued feud with the legend, have left the 26-year-old with many detractors. It’s especially evident whenever Dom Dom tries to cut a promo. The boos he receives are perhaps the most by an active wrestler in the WWE.
However, the NXT North American Champion recently managed to get an unlikely endorsement from one of his prime critics. The legend praised the wrestler for adhering to a tradition, that the former holds dear.

Dominik Mysterio took on Dragon Lee and beat him without help from his stable mates. With the victory, he managed to defend his belt and get even with his father, who had hailed Lee as the future of Lucha Libre.
However, Rey Mysterio had unlikely words of praise for his son as well. Appearing on WWE’s The Bump on September 27, the legendary luchador said, “Unfortunate to say, but you can see it now in my son, who’s climbing that ladder in and is making his way through.” Mysterio said it while talking about the tradition of Lucha Libre, which is a high-flying wrestling style originating in Mexico.
Answering to the host’s question: “Why are the family connections been so important in the history of Lucha Libre?”, Mysterio said, “It’s the history, it’s the bloodline that keeps growing and keeps moving through the ropes and through the ring.” Mysterio, who is a second-generation wrestler, following his namesake uncle, also termed the continued tradition as “special”.
Meanwhile, Dominik Mysterio will have to overcome a challenge from Dragon Lee in a few days’ time.

To spice up the contest, Dragon Lee has been given the responsibility of officiating the match. Will Lee exact revenge for the loss on RAW? Whatever the case, one can expect sparks to fly during the bout.
