He outlived multiple wrestling companies and will continue to do so for as long as he can. But who will take over the McMahon empire after the big boss calls it a day? Who is the heir and next in line to the billion-dollar business?

Vince McMahon had an interesting answer to the question on The Howard Stern Show. The big boss hardly does interviews, but it was an exciting watch when he did them back in the day.
Vince McMahon names the heir to his billion-dollar empire.
In 2001, he appeared on The Howard Stern show and talked about his company.
While talking to McMahon, Stern asked him about the most sought-after question — Who is inheriting the empire? Is it going to be Shane or Stephanie?

Vince said Shane, Stephanie, and Marissa (Shane McMahon’s wife) would have to work together towards their father’s empire. McMahon said his kids would not fight for a more significant piece out of Vince’s empire.
The Chairman further added, “They’re both in the business. You know, and they both love the business, and I think that they’ll work it out.”

Howard mentioned that many business people always try to pass on their work to their kids. Later, they realize their kids don’t have what it takes to elevate the business further, and they mess it up.
But Vince has a lot of faith in his children and said, “Shane and Stephanie are a hell of a lot brighter than I am,” and Stern once again asked him to make it clear if he will leave his business to his kids and his wife and Vince said sure.
Will Nick Khan take over WWE?
Despite Vince stating that his family will take over his business, the interview occurred in 2001, and many things could have changed since then.

Nick Khan joined WWE, and many things have changed since his appointment. Vince appears to trust Khan a lot, which begs the question: Has Vince found the rightful heir to his empire?
According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it will be Nick indeed. Someone asked Dave Meltzer, the favorite to replace Vince, and mentioned Nick Khan.

“It’s kind of a board of directors thing, but you know, probably (Nick Khan replacing Vince McMahon), yeah. Unless they went and hired somebody else from the outside, but probably Nick Khan, yes,” [H/T Sportzwiki]
Considering Khan’s number of changes and releases, we could say that Vince is looking at him as a successor. However, nothing has been confirmed by Vince Mcmahon as yet.
