Even the best in the business falters at times. It happens occasionally, just as a reminder that to err is human. One such embarrassment once plagued Stone Cold Steve Austin as well. The said incident took place at SummerSlam 1999. The Texas Rattlesnake recently revisited that bout from over two decades ago.

The WWE Hall of Famer also made an observation with his match against fellow legend Triple H and Mankind.

Austin, 58, had a smaller career in WWE as compared to many other legends. But during his time with the promotion, he was able to leave an indelible mark. Together with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Austin headlined the Attitude Era in the promotion, which ran from 1998 to 2001.

He had many memorable encounters with other legends during this time. One such was his bout with Triple H and Mankind (Mick Foley) at SummerSlam 1999. The trio were battling for the WWF Championship, which was then with Austin. The special referee was Jesse Ventura.

During the course of the bout, Shane McMahon tried to interfere on The Game’s behalf and received a Stunner from Austin. The junior McMahon was subsequently sent off the top rope by Ventura. Meanwhile, Austin failed to control his weight and flipped over the ropes. Unfortunately, his knee brace got stuck, keeping him dangling.

Seeing his peer in danger, Triple H rushed to Austin’s aid. The footage was shared by a fan account recently. Reacting to it, Austin admitted it was a “rough night”, though he acknowledged the “good times”.

Meanwhile, Austin’s plight was narrated by Hunter, who shared how the two reacted to the near mishap.

“The two of us are laughing like little kids,” Triple H said. The Game, however, was also wary of Austin’s revenge for outing their secrets in public.

He said that the beer-chugging wrestler will hit him with a stunner later for disclosing the details. It is not known if Stone Cold hit Triple H with the stunner for it or not, though the SummerSlam match was won by Mankind, going over both Triple H and Austin.
