16-time World Champion, John Cena turned multiple heads when he first made his debut on an episode of Friday Night SmackDown, where he took down WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle with ‘Ruthless Aggression.’

However, ‘The Champ’ quickly changed his gimmick and became a bar-spitting freestyler, who would diss his opponents and make controversial statements at the time. However, recently, WWE Hall of Famer, Jesse James, aka The Road Dogg, took to his Twitter and indicated that Cena stole his gimmick.

Long before John Cena decided to wrestle for Vince McMahon. Road Dogg was making headlines when he was in DX and he was the most vocal member of the legendary stable. Interestingly, Road Dogg himself had a rapping gimmick who would diss the fans/wrestlers just like Cena did in the mid-2000s.

Recently, former WWE champion took to Twitter and wrote “Be grateful not hateful.”, to which the Hall of Famer replied that he should add a line or two to make it a rhyming sentence.

Eventually, one person replied to Dogg’s tweet and asked whether Cena ever thanked him [Dogg] for paving a way for ‘The Champ‘ to adopt the rapping gimmick.

The Road Dogg immediately sarcastically addressed this question. In the end, it seems like the former WWE Intercontinental Champion thinks that Cena stole his idea and never thanked him for it.

“Funny story, It was a perfect setting, we were at a hotel……… hell no he didn’t,” he wrote.

John Cena ‘luckily’ got this rapping gimmick in WWE

When a young Cena appeared for the WWE, he had a gimmick of a half-man-half-robot. Eventually, the WWE creative team realized that this will never be a big hit. So, there was a time in Cena’s career when he was shuffled in the mid-card.

However, all of this changed when Cena was traveling with his colleagues on a bus. While traveling, there were a bunch of WWE wrestlers who were rapping. Seeing this, Cena jumped into the mix and started freestyling.

Eventually, this gimmick helped Cena catapult to the next level and reach the popularity of that like Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan. Cena is currently out of action; however, the fans are still waiting for ‘The Champ’ to return to WWE.
