WWE continues to make big reference to the rival promotion since the Elimination Chamber 2024 PLE. Although it’s not something new to see a few passive-respectful exchanges between WWE and AEW, whenever it happens, it certainly deserves special attention. Tonight’s Raw was another place to bring that practice into the foray, with Michael Cole lending a huge shout-out to The Icon Sting.

WWE validates AEW’s latest PPV with the special focus on Sting’s spectacular retirement match

Sting’s retirement match last night at AEW Revolution was no less than pure bliss to watch. The way he alongside Darby Allin retained their World Tag Team titles against The Young Bucks after a high-flying fight caught the entire wrestling universe off guard with splendor. Moreover, the pro wrestling community showered the stars with love and praise. Tonight at San Antonio, WWE, too, did their part by acknowledging the former WWE star for his last dance on the squared circle. In a classy statement, Michael Cole and Pat McAfee congratulated the legend and stated it was a great match last night.

Sting’s immediate mindset after the retirement revealed

Sting had to share his net-garnered attention and love with none but his worthy tag team partner. Darby Allin. Because he was equally impressive and unreal (if not more) as Sting throughout their stake match. Allin took the audience to a sudden abrupt storm when he jumped through a glass pane and left bloodied. They both took numerous life-threatening bumps, but at the end, managed to retained the tag team title. Hats off to their almost unreal resilience. After the match, Allin was asked about Sting’s future plan during a one-to-one interview. From what Allin said, it’s pretty clear we are not going to get the Sting magic back even in the backstage down the road.

”No, he wants to ride off in the sunset. He kind of wants to disconnect from everything,” Allin told Metro.

”He always says: If I get really bad out there, and it’s time, I don’t want to be embarrassing – you tell me when it’s time to hang the boots up-. I still feel like he’s operating at an amazing rate, his performances, he’s never phoned it in.” Allin added.

So it’s pretty clear you might find Sting magic everywhere but in the squared circle from now on.
