John Cena has always been the babyface since he turned face after the initial days of his Doctor of Thuganomics gimmick. Being the relentless worker that he is, he has always been cheered by his fans which involved his Hustle, Loyalty, and Respect gimmick. But there was a section among WWE fans that didn’t like Cena for various reasons.
There was a sentiment that Cena was always being put over regardless of who was in the opposite corner. This also saw Team WWE led by Cena beating the havoc wreaking upstarts from NXT, called Nexus. The result of the match didn’t go down well with many fans. Former WWE superstars Edge and Chris Jericho felt the same sentiment after the main event of SummerSlam 2010.

During the beginning of the Ruthless Aggression Era, Cena was the guy who carried the torch for WWE and Vince McMahon. Not only he was the poster boy but also their main guy for every PPV. He was in the main event for SummerSlam 2010 in a match against The Nexus. It was a 7-on-7 tag team match. The closing moment of the match has been debated a lot and criticized by Cena’s fellow WWE colleagues.
In an interview with Inside The Ropes in 2018, Edge revealed how he felt about the match. He said, “I mean they gotta go over. You know even if it is, you know, only Barett in the end, he needs to go over. And for whatever reason, they were stuck on it and John was really stuck on it.”

He was referring to the finish of the match when Team Cena defeated Team Nexus. Though a win did not benefit John Cena much as he was already a superstar by then, it killed the momentum for The Nexus, especially Wade Barrett.
However, this was not the only thing that bothered Edge and Jericho. He said, “And at a certain point he goes, I’d love for them to be able to keep rolling and running, and now you have new main event players.
