From its first season in 2001 to the present, Dwayne Johnson’s ex-wife, Dany Garcia, has been a fan and an investor of the XFL. The XFL and USFL merged on New Year’s Eve, creating the United Football League (the UFL), the new top spring football league. Recently, Garcia posted on her social media that she is excited that the UFL season to kick off on March 30 in its debut.

This spring, the UFL is going to be the top football league

“From day one, our mission has been to expand the game of football and be a league of opportunity, culture, and innovation,” Dwayne Johnson, Founder and CEO of Seven Bucks Businesses, said in a statement to the press. “As we come together to create the UFL, we can build something powerful, exciting, and very cool for football fans — a spring league with lasting impact for all the players with a dream to play pro football and the ‘hardest workers in the room’ mentality to make their dreams come true,” he had said of the USFL-XFL merger.

Russ Brandon, former President and CEO of the XFL, serves as President and CEO of the UFL. Daryl Johnston, former USFL President of Football Operations, will be leading football operations for the UFL in its first season. The first UFL game will be on March 30, 2024, between the Arlington Renegades, who won the XFL title in 2023, and the Birmingham Stallions, who won the USFL title that same year.

The first season of the new UFL will have eight teams

The two teams will start training camp for the upcoming UFL season on February 24 in Arlington. The Birmingham and Arlington teams, which have won league titles before, will play each other in the first game of the 10-game season on March 10. CBS, Fox, ABC, and FS1 will all broadcast the matches live.
