John Cena has found great success as a Hollywood actor in recent years. This comes after his rise to popularity as a WWE star for over a decade. Throughout his career, Cena has remained humble and a down-to-earth person. Fans know him for his philanthropic work and polite demeanor. Interestingly, the former WWE Champion once compared himself to that of NFL legend Tom Brady.

Tom Brady comes off as a more flamboyant and outspoken individual as compared to Cena. Hence, Cena’s comparing himself with Brady is somewhat surprising. However, the ‘Doctor of Thuganomics’ believes the NFL icon has a lot more in common.

John Cena drew a comparison between himself and Tom Brady

John Cena played the role of a WWE babyface for well over a decade. During this run, he preached ‘Hustle, Loyalty, and Respect’ both in and outside the ring. Despite being a polarizing character in WWE for most of his time, Cena stayed respectful of the fans. He maintained his simple lifestyle aura in the media as well.

On the other hand, Tom Brady is as swashbuckling as they come. The seven-time Super Bowl champion is a star and lets everyone know it. Although it may seem a bit off saying Cena and Brady are similar, according to the ‘Peacemaker’ star, it is quite easy to understand why.

In 2017, in an interview with TMZ, Cena explained why he supports the NFL’s New England Patriots for which Brady played at that time. He said, “I tend to gravitate towards New England because every other sports fan (except a Patriots fan) doesn’t. And me being a storyteller from the WWE, I like the fact that year after year, no matter what adversity they face, they always do well. And everyone hates that. So I’m drawn to those guys.”

Moreover, ‘The Franchise Player’ added, “Like I said, I run kind of like a parallel life with Tom Brady.” He explained that what makes New England great is that they don’t need to get hyped and they tend to do really well. Cena said they take care of business and so does he. He even wished that Brady could win his fifth Super Bowl and he himself will win a 16th WWE World title. As we know, both these wishes came true a few years later.

Both Cena and Brady are stars, with a worldwide fan following. They proved to be among the most long-lasting and successful names in their professions. They even transcended their respective fields to become a much bigger brand.
