For a long time, there hasn’t been an athlete in WWE that has been presented as the epitome of an indomitable wall. But Gunther has made his personality based solely on the fact that no one can beat him. Ever since coming to the main roster, not a single person has pinned or submitted the Ring General.

But he did lose one of the most important matches in his career. The 2023 Royal Rumble saw the Austrian plow through man after man to be among the last two people remaining. But Cody Rhodes stood in front of him and had enough experience to win that tug of war. Gunther talked about the experience recently.

About the loss he said, “Well, it’s a little bit disheartening, obviously. I broke the record for being in the Royal Rumble for the longest time and then not being successful, it’s a tough pill to swallow. But the next time, I’ll be successful.
