Since his debut in 2002, Brock ‘The Beast’ Lesnar has been a force to be reckoned with. With a massive frame, intimidating tattoos, and a 1000-yard stare, he lived up to his nickname. Showcasing his training in amateur wrestling at the collegiate level, he knew how to toss people around. But was Lesnar always like this? 

Lesnar started his career in Pro Wrestling in 2000. After spending 2 years in the developmental stage, he debuted on WWE’s main roster after WrestleMania 18 in 2002. He then moved to the UFC and later returned to Vince’s playground. In the UFC, he won the UFC Heavyweight Championship, mercilessly punishing his opponents. He recently shared where his drive as a fighter comes from.

The UFC 200 saw Lesnar headline the co-main event against Mark Hunt. ‘The Beast’ put on an impressive show, winning the event unanimously. Post the fight during the press meet, he shared his thoughts on growing up and being a fighter.

“I hate to say it, but ever since I was a kid, I’ve just been a bully, and I like, not necessarily picking on anybody, But I just like getting my nose dirty. I never turned down a fight.”Lesnar would go on to say that it was his mother that encouraged him to take up fighting as a sport. This came after she would scold him for picking fights around town.

“My mom used to chew my a** as I would go to town looking for fights”, he said. According to her, if he was going to do it, he might as well make some money. Keeping this in mind, he took up amateur wrestling in college. This is where he learned the sport’s nuances and honed his grappling and tackling skills. 

With his experience in wrestling and football before joining WWE, he demonstrated great agility and athleticism. Since he joined the promotion, he showed significant improvement, adding some impressive top-rope jumps to his arsenal.

From college amateur to breaking the undefeated streak of a WWE legend

Making his debut on the main roster on the March 18, 2002 episode of WWF Raw, Lesnar took on Al Snow, Spike Dudley, and Maven as a heel. He would win his first WWE Championship at SummerSlam on August 25 that year. He also won the King of the Ring title in the same year.

With his size and speed, he became a fan favorite, displaying a dominance that was on par with the likes of Kane and Big Show. But he made his mark in WWE history by putting an end to the undefeated streak of a WWE legend.

The most memorable and controversial part of Lesnar’s WWE career would be after his return in 2012. In 2014, he began a feud with the ‘Dead Man’, The Undertaker, which culminated at WrestleMania 30. Leser did what no fan ever thought possible, ending the undefeated streak at 21-1. This shocked the entire wrestling community, who still claim it wasn’t necessary.
