CM Punk has ventured into the realm of MMA again. And no, this is not what you guessed, he’s not having another go at being a UFC fighter. Instead, this time he was a part of the MMA news circle by being a reason behind another UFC fighter’s moment of happiness.

In a recent video shared by UFC Europe, the WWE fighter can be seen meeting a Welsh MMA star named Oban Elliott in a heartwarming moment.

Sharing the video on X, UFC Europe shared the moment when Elliott met his idol CM Punk backstage after his win at UFC 298. Oban “The Welsh Gangster” Elliott is a pro-MMA fighter out of Wales and the #12th ranked pro men welterweight in the United Kingdom & Ireland. And the MMA star is a huge fan of the Cult of Personality, as can be seen in the video.

It sure looks like CM Punk did manage to leave somewhat of a mark in the realm of MMA. But for now, he cannot enjoy being a part of any action due to his triceps injury. While many expected him to face Seth Rollins for the title, for now, Punk will have to wait for a full recovery before he can enter the ring again. Or the Octagon, if he decides to give his MMA career another chance. But when it comes to his in-ring return, there might be a surprising matchup that can take place.

‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin came out of retirement in 2022 to wrestle Kevin Owens at the 38th edition of WrestleMania. Before it happened, it seemed unthinkable, but it finally materialized. Since then, there have been many who have asked the former world champion about his return to the ring. And in a recent interview with ESPN, Austin didn’t rule out facing CM Punk if he was put to it. He said, “I like Punk, and I think Punk likes me. So, as long as he can take a stunner,” He further added, “I consider him a great friend, a great guy, and a great wrestler who’s had a great career. We’ll see.”

Punk and Austin starred in a segment on the June 13, 2011 episode of Monday Night Raw, and were later part of the promotion of the video game WWE ’13 in an interview alongside Jim Ross. Sparks flew in that promotion and it was much commented on by fans. Since then, they have not been seen together on a wrestling show again. It remains to be seen if this dream fight ends up taking place and, if so, in what scenario it would take place. What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
