Do you remember the year 2011? It was a glorious year for the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Additionally, the UFC saw a range of debuts and dramatic events. One of these memorable events was between Alistair Overeem and Brock Lesnar. 11 years later, fans are still remembering this legendary fight.

All things considered, Overeem truly came down brutally on Brock Lesnar. However, The Beast Incarnate’s fans have a lot to say about the background of the fight.

Basically, UFC recently released a throwback video on Facebook. This has taken the internet by storm. The throwback video is of the UFC fight between Overeem and Lesnar. This took place on 30th December 2011.

The MMA fight was held at MGM Grand in Las Vegas. At this UFC 141 fight, Brock Lesnar only lasted one round. However, a lot of spectators who attacked Lesnar are being accused of not knowing the full story. So, what is the full story?

You might be aware that Lesnar was dealing with diverticulitis. Hence, he was in a lot of pain due to rehabilitation and treatment. Jason Carranza stated, “Man if Brock didn’t have those issues until a few years later in his career I’m sure people would feel differently about him as a mma fighter.” 

Harry Fishman believed that “Brock was compromised due to his surgery also this was Ubereem. Brock would have destroyed him otherwise.” 

John Love commented, “Horse jooce Vs a guy with half his stomach just removed…yeah cool brag bro.” 

On the other hand, Sampson Nwosu said “Excuses!!! Excuses!!! Excuses!!! but it doesn’t mean shii…. Overeem Outclassed the talentless and Over confident Lesnar.” 

Most comments, like Edgar Chimalizeni’s, came out in support for The Beast. “You got to love Lesnar though.” 

Furthermore, Paul Borg went on to call Lesnar “A talentless lump.”

After the heavy defeat at UFC against Overeem, Brock Lesnar was in trouble. Thereafter, fans saw him collapse to the ground and accept defeat. Subsequently, Lesnar announced his retirement.

“This is the last time you’ll see me in the octagon,” he said.

Thus, Alastair Overeem was clearly the hero. He made a stunning UFC debut. Fans were disappointed to see Lesnar exit like this. Prior to this, Overeem and Lesnar were also asked to submit screens for drug-testing. What do you think of this fight and Brock’s return?
