“Big Infection”: Grigor Dimitrov Reveals the Reason Behind His Shabby Loss to Rafael Nadal at Monte Carlo Masters 2021

Grigor Dimitrov suffered a humiliating defeat against Rafael Nadal in the pre-quarters of the Monte Carlo Masters 2021. He stood nowhere near against the mighty Rafa and played some really poor tennis. As a result, the Bulgarian player lost in straight sets with the final scoreline of 1-6, 1-6.
Even though Grigor Dimitrov didn’t play well, he revealed the real reason for his poor performance in the match against Rafael Nadal. In the post-match interview, he disclosed that he had been troubling with a tooth problem for the past few days.
“I’ve been struggling with a massive tooth problem for the past four or five days. I have a big infection on my tooth. It’s been hard,” said Dimitrov in the interview.

He mentioned that because of the tooth problem, he hasn’t been able to eat or sleep properly lately.
“I haven’t been able to sleep well or eat well or anything like that. I mean, it’s time to put an end to it and I was bearing it for a while this whole week,” added the former World No.3.

Dimitrov was looking in immense pain and he said that he would straightaway visit a doctor after the match. He even described it as a really unpleasant moment for him.
“Straight to the doctor’s, unfortunately. Very, very unpleasant moment. It is what it is. At least I’m glad it happened on a home soil, at home, so I can go see my dentist and figure this problem as soon as possible,” concluded the Bulgarian player.
