In a recent interview, Holger Rune suggested that he isn’t buying into the idea of a “Netflix curse“. It is said that there is a curse that impacts players sometimes after they have been featured on Netflix. He called the idea “stupid” and rejected any connection between a player’s performance and being part of the documentary.

Rune used the example of Novak Djokovic. He said that Djokovic could do multiple Netflix series and still win Grand Slams. According to Rune, success in tennis is about a player’s skills and dedication, not some supposed jinx tied to a TV show. To back up his point, Rune mentioned Aryna Sabalenka, who also featured in the series and still went on to win the Australian Open last year.

“I think it’s stupid, to be honest. No offense. I think it’s nothing to do with that. I think Novak could do ten Netflix series and still win 20 Grand Slams or 24. It’s really something that it’s not about that. I think Sabalenka did a few already, and she won Australian Open last year. I don’t know. Yeah, that’s it,” said Rune in the interview.

While Rune featured in the second season of Break Point, his fans are very excited about what is it exactly they can get to know about the Danish player in the series.

One take at a time

In a world where player rivalries dominate social media conversations, I am someone who prefers to enjoy the skills showcased on the court rather than be involved in feuds over the greatness of players. Right from my early childhood, I have been engrossed by the legendary rivalry between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. It turned me into a ?Fedal? fan and eventually, when I graduated from college, this fandom created an interest in covering their exploits on the court.
