“In Shock”: Andrey Rublev Amazed with Rafael Nadal’s Phenomenal Play Under Pressure

Rising star Andrey Rublev stunned World No.3 Rafael Nadal in the quarters of the Monte Carlo Masters 2021. The Russian player played some terrific tennis to seal his spot in the semis of the tournament after defeating Rafa. The final scoreline of the match was 6-2, 4-6, 6-2.
In the post-match interview, Andrey Rublev sympathized with Rafael Nadal. He mentioned that he can’t even imagine the pressure Rafa feels every time before a match just because he is the best player on clay.
“I can’t imagine how to be in the situation of Rafa, knowing you’re the best player on clay. You have that pressure every time,” said Rublev in the interview.

Rublev clearly was feeling bad for Nadal and was thinking from his point of view. He even highlighted that it would be extremely tough for Rafa to play under so much pressure constantly.
“I think for him it must be incredibly tough every time,” added the World No.8 player.

Rublev emphasized that he was in total shock after watching Rafa perform so well under such immense pressure. He even reflected that it is not the first time that he is doing so but it is now his habit to not just play but perform well under pressure as well. It is because of all these traits that Rublev called Rafa a legend of the sport.
“I’m in shock the way he’s playing under this pressure and that’s why he’s a legend,” concluded the Russian player.
