World No.1 Novak Djokovic recently made history after winning his 20th Grand Slam title at the Wimbledon Championships 2021. The Serbian legend played some fantastic tennis and defeated Matteo Berrettini in four sets to clinch his sixth Wimbledon title. The final scoreline of the match was 6(4)-7(7), 6-4, 6-4, 6-3.

Fans are wondering what is next to accomplish for Novak Djokovic. The Tokyo Olympics 2021 are just two weeks away but Nole has not confirmed whether he will be playing there or not.

I can’t even have a stringer, lot of restrictions. I will have to think about it. Plan was always to go, but now it’s 50-50,” said Djokovic in a recent interview.

Djokovic is certainly not 100% sure about his participation at the Tokyo Olympics 2021. He is still thinking about it and seems quite unhappy with the restrictions there. Also, he has been playing a lot of tennis since the beginning of the clay-court season and his body surely demands some rest ahead of the US Open 2021. Thus, his chances of playing there are not really high at this moment.

His arch-rivals, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have also withdrawn from the biggest sporting event. Even Nick Kyrgios is not playing at the Olympics this year because of the restrictions there.

Novak Djokovic can achieve a Golden Slam if he wins an Olympic Gold

With Rafa and Roger not playing, Djokovic has a golden opportunity to win a Gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics this year. If he wins that and then succeeds at the US Open 2021, he’ll become only the second player to accomplish a Golden Slam after Stefanie Graf.

In addition, Djoker will also equalize Rafa’s record as the Spaniard also has an Olympic gold against his name. This will make him move one step ahead in the G.O.A.T debate as well.
