“The stars have to align a little bit,” Kyrgios told the Tennis Channel. “And with Zverev, he’s an incredibly hard worker. That’s his reputation. He ticks all the boxes and if someone like that can come back from an injury like that, I think that’s what I have to draw inspiration from for sure.

“So I’m doing everything I can to get back out there. Obviously, you know how injuries are every day, just doing the rehab, doing the gym work. But to be here and being able to watch the match we’re about to watch (between Zverev and Daniil Medvedev) makes me more hungry to get out there,” he said.

Thus, Nick Kyrgios, who has been out of the court for a while now, is eager to return to the sport. While his journey to the top has been fascinating, he will look to garnish more success and what Alexander Zverev did back then.

Interestingly, the German player featured in the Roland Garros back in 2022 when he got the injury and was sidelined for a long time.

Alexander Zverev suffered the injury at Roland Garros while playing against Rafael Nadal

Playing at the Roland Garros in 2022, Alexander Zverev suffered an unwanted injury in his right ankle. It was the second game set against Rafael Nadal, and the German player was already trailing behind 6-7 in the first game. The scoreline of the second set was 6-6 when he accidentally rolled over his right ankle and was in pain.

The match was already 3 hours and 13 minutes long, and Zverev had torn all three of the lateral ligaments in his right ankle. This eventually forced him to be sidelined for the entire season. This came as a disaster to him. However, he kept his cool and made a comeback and is now contesting for a chance to title glory in the ATP Finals.
