‘Showed He Is a Human Being Before Everything’: Novak Djokovic’s Brother Heaps Praise on Nick Kyrgios

Over the past few days, the tennis world has been engulfed in the controversy surrounding Novak Djokovic’s medical exemption for the Australian Open. It has divided the community with players and other notable figures either supporting or opposing Novak. Interestingly, even Nick Kyrgios came out in support of the World No. 1 which comes as a surprise given their history, especially on the subject of vaccination.
Recently, Novak’s younger brother, Djordje Djokovic, praised the Aussie for setting aside their rivalry and supporting the Serb.

Nick Kyrgios on Novak Djokovic controversy
Kyrgios, who had earlier criticized Novak for his stance about vaccination, called out the Australian government’s treatment of the World No. 1.
Nick Kyrgios tweeted, “Like these memes, headlines, this is one of our great champions but at the end of the day, he is human. Do better.”

Further, the 26-year-old, during an episode of his podcast mentioned that Novak would be very determined to win it, if allowed to play the Australian Open. Kyrgios feels that Novak could be dangerous to face if he is on court with the ‘villain’ energy. He further added that the media has made a mess of their relationship.
Djordje Djokovic is all praise for Kyrgios
Reacting to Nick Kyrgios’ comments on the vaccine exemption controversy, Djordje Djokovic, Novak Djokovic’s brother, said, “Kyrgios showed that he is a human being before everything, he speaks his mind whether he loves you or not.”
Whatever your opinions may be on the Djokovic controversy, Kyrgios definitely deserves some praise for setting aside his feelings for Djokovic to view the matter as objectively as possible.

Nick Kyrgios had a disappointing 2021 season where he failed to win any title. He went down to Dominic Thiem of Austria in the third-round at last year’s Australian Open.
