Mardy Fish launches experienced a Thanksgiving shock as the US team suffered defeat in the Davis Cup quarterfinals. In his recent decision, Fish dropped Rajeev Ram from the squad and the veteran wasn’t happy about it. Ram recently tweeted a sarcastic message, wherein he poked fun at the US team’s elimination from the prestigious tournaments. The team’s captain, Mardy Fish, responded to such criticism.

Rajeev Ram is currently the no.3 in the ATP doubles ranking and is a former Olympic medalist. Dropping him from the team has proved to be an unpopular decision among the fanbase.

Fish’s response to Ram’s absence

Rajeev Ram did not hold back on his disappointment at not being selected. “I’m very disappointed. I put in a lot of hard work this year to help the team get there,” said Ram. “Felt like I had earned the spot…was hoping to be on the team for sure.

In what fans are saying as an arrogant comeback, Fish does not regret his decision. Before the match on Thursday, he said, “Obviously he [Rajeev Ram] is one of the best players in the world. But matching, putting a team together isn’t as simple as just taking a player that’s ranked high and put him with another player and just hope that they do well.” However, keeping in mind the unfortunate turn of events, fans expected Fish to express regret over his decisions.

A Thanksgiving tweet by Rajeev Ram

It is clear that Fish does not want any questions about his decisions. However, his intimidation is worn off on Rajeev, as is clear by his recent tweet.
