Shaun White Reveals Criticizers Tried to Pull Him Down by Not Accepting Snowboarding as a ‘Real Sport’

One more Olympics. Just one more for Shaun White, whose incredible dominance in snowboarding has done him wonders. Whether it is skateboarding or snowboarding, White dominated the sport for nearly two decades. He is currently going to appear in his fifth Winter Olympics. Apparently, the last one. With all the success behind him, he will end his career at the end of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.

While some people lose interest in the sport, White kept himself motivated for a long time. That’s the greatness of the man. While many tried to put him down by saying snowboarding is a real sport, he kept going and showed why he is the best.

Shaun White wanted to prove haters wrong

The sport of snowboarding has comparatively a lower reach when compared with other sports like football, basketball, tennis, etc. However, White is famous in the pop-culture for his outstanding achievements in extreme sports competitions. He is one of the best snowboarders, as well as, the best skateboarder in the sport’s history. Landing 1080s or 900s is a customary go-to move for the talented athlete and he talked about keeping himself motivated, despite, the sport not being famous around the world.

“People thought we were kind of throwing our lives away for a sport that wasn’t a ‘real’ sport, so I always felt like I had something to prove. There’s just a lot motivating me now that wasn’t there before. Or at least it’s a lot different,” said White.

After facing tough competition in the qualifying rounds, the sensational White got back in the final qualifying event in Laax, Switzerland to book his flight to China. Thus, he finished on the podium to give him an opportunity to claim his fourth gold medal. Being at the top requires an incredible amount of motivation and passion for his craft, as he showcased it for a long time. Thus, what a stunning career.
