This is one of the main topics that Ehsan Farahi, Vlad Yudin, Edwin Mejia Jr, and Victor Martinez talked about in their latest podcast in ‘Generation Iron Fitness & Bodybuilding Network’.
They discussed SARMs, which are used as a substitute for steroids. Victor explained how using SARMs nearly caused him to lose his eyesight and made him feel older than he was. They also mentioned a major scandal that occurred in MLB concerning steroid use. Now, let’s delve into the details of the scandal.

Canseco became The Chemist
Long story short, the power-hitting outfielder, Canseco, started using steroids when they were banned in 1988. During his steroid-induced career, he slashed 266/.353/.515, with an OPS of .867. He also won the Silver Slugger Award and an MVP Award. Finally, after he released a book on the steroid culture in baseball, the MLB could not turn a blind eye to the scandal any longer.
He was obsessed with becoming the best player in the world and did not see if the means of doing it were right or wrong. In 2005, Major League Baseball blacklisted him after he tested positive for steroid use. He got the nickname The Chemist, and wrote a book called ‘Juice’ where he ratted out several big names who used steroids. Canseco betrayed his best friend Mark McGuire as well by writing his name in the book, but later he regretted it.
