The year 2023 has brought another champion to the forefront. Mitchell Hooper won the Arnold Strongman Classic in March before moving on to claim the 46th World Strongest Man in April at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Hooper had set a record by becoming the first Canadian to win the WSM, after his debut last year. Now, he has once again put his strength to use in a unique way.

The ace athlete was attending Toronto’s morning show CP24 Breakfast last week, and had a fun talk with the hosts on the show. In a clip the new StrongMan was seen lifting two people with both arms, testimony to the title he won of late.

The Moose debuted at the World Strongest Man event after a brief stint in marathon running and powerlifting. In his very second chance at the WSM event, he went on to lift the trophy. Weighing 320lbs, the 6’3 tall Hooper’s confidence dwindled at the start of the event after having a look at his competitors. “I’m looking at that group and thinking who on earth would be the bottom two. It’s really quite impossible to tell. The work was cut out…So, I didn’t go in with 100 percent confidence,” he explained.

But eventually, he was in form by the second day of the event and went on to win the title at 27 years. In a recent interview at CP24 Breakfast show, Hooper went on to give his spectators a view of his strength by lifting the hosts of the show with his bare hands. Had some fun on @cp24breakfast yesterday talking about @theworldsstrongestman, benefits of growing the strongman community, and what’s to come,” he captioned the post on his official Instagram handle.

Lift heavy, be kind,” is the philosophy that keeps Hooper going. The powerlifter aims to bring a change in how the strongest persons are seen as tough, violent, and anything but kind.

The Moose aims to shift the narrative of Strongman

I want to start changing the narrative that the biggest, strongest person is also the most aggressive and standoffish,” Hooper says per CBC. Hooper also states that some of the World’s Strongest Men are also the sweetest persons one could ever meet even though they project themselves as reserved. And he wants people to approach big strongmen for help rather than feeling scared.
