Decades After Brutal Training, 65 YO Veteran Bodybuilder Unveils His Secret to ‘Keeping…Shape for Health, Wellness, and Longevity’

Upon the discussion of the golden era of bodybuilding, several names pop up in our minds. The downright shredded physiques of the past are still revered by the community. However, there were some athletes whose attention to detail and mass proportions were absolutely ideal. Former IFBB icon, Francis Benfatto rightly justifies the aforementioned statement. 

Carrying on his legacy, the athlete has launched his training academy, PPM, to guide aspirants on the right path. Besides, Benfatto revealed two secrets that have helped him stay in shape and healthy even at his declining age, in an Instagram post.

Owing to his 30-year-long pro career, it is undoubted that the African athlete imparts a great influence on the bodybuilding community. Hence, taking the responsibility quite seriously, he took to his Instagram to share a calming video of him working out at dawn. Moreover, he also penned down an elaborate note on exercising in the early hours of the morning, deeming it a “magical” experience. 

He pointed out that people are intrigued by his ageless physique even at 65, and ask him about his secret. “here it is: consistency and dedication,” he shared. Furthermore, the former Mr. Universe added in another characteristic routine that keeps him going. “They say the early bird catches the worm, and I couldn’t agree more!” Benfatto wrote.

He continued, “Starting my day off with my ritual to training PPM at 5 am has become the key to keeping my shape for health, wellness, and longevity at 65!” His program, Progressive Performance Methodology (PPM) guides several aspirants and enthusiasts to leading a fit and healthy life. So much so, he himself follows the regimen. Apart from that, the star athlete shed light on a range of topics in the caption of his post.

As The Unforgiven by Metallica played in the background, the 65-year-old icon slowly performed cable pulls, while standing in front of a lamp, hinting at the early hours of the morning. “gives me the opportunity to connect with my body…There’s something magical about the tranquility of the early morning hours that fuels my motivation and determination,” he beautifully wrote.

Speaking of his PPM routine, the Morrocan native elucidated that his regime considers a blend of cardio workouts, strength training, and stretching. It helps maintain the body’s agility and flexibility, along with strength, of course. The champion remarked that the real deal is about feeling “incredible from the inside out!”
