Behind the glamorous facade lies a sport that demands immense dedication, discipline, and perseverance. One of the greatest challenges in bodybuilding lies in the realm of nutrition and supplementation. To achieve the desired levels of leanness, bodybuilders meticulously design their diet plans in such a way that they can present a dry and hard physique on the stage. Low sodium and potassium intake, almost no carbs weeks before the show, and a lot of diuretics to get a dry look often catch up with the athletes on the stage.

While bodybuilders thrive to present their sculpted physiques with confidence and grace on stage, there have been instances where athletes have experienced fainting episodes or intense muscle cramps and spasms on stage. 9-1-1 is a television series that delves into the high-stakes world of emergency responders and paramedics and the challenges they face every day. During the episode ‘Dosed,’ which aired back in October 2018, viewers witnessed a bodybuilder experiencing intense muscle spasms. A recently resurfaced YouTube clip from the episode caught the attention of fans, who noticed a striking resemblance between the protagonist and a well-known Hollywood figure.

During the competitions, athletes perform intricate posing routines that require intense muscular contractions and sustained physical as well as mental efforts. These exertions can often lead to severe situations like serious muscle cramps and spasms and even fainting on the stage. Bodybuilders often manipulate their fluid and sodium intake in the weeks leading up to a competition to achieve a lean and vascular appearance. During the debated clip, one of the competitors in a bodybuilding show found themselves unable to release a double bicep pose due to extreme dehydration caused by low sodium and potassium levels and the use of diuretics.
