Arnold Schwarzenegger has revealed his thoughts on the miraculous weight loss drug taking the world by storm. In the latest edition of his newsletter, the bodybuilding icon highlighted a question by a member of The Pump app. The member asked the Austrian oak about Ozempic and related drugs, “which seem to be all the rave right now.”

The member was not wrong in his assessment as scores of people, including celebrities, have tried Ozempic. Elon Musk and former NBA icon Charles Barkley famously shed significant weight with a combination of dieting and Ozempic. Arnold Schwarzenegger didn’t have much praise for the weight loss drug. However, he didn’t want to overstep his bounds as well.

The Pump app member said he feels long-term studies might expose various issues with Ozempic. Replying to this, the 76-year-old fitness icon said, “You know, I have mixed feelings.” While Arnie has decades of experience with bodybuilding and nutrition, he didn’t want to make bold assumptions.

“I never want to question decisions between people and their doctors,” wrote the former governor. But, the bodybuilding icon also said some people who need to lose “a lot of weight,” have benefited from using the drug. That being said, Arnie also claimed that he thought, “There are people who look for shortcuts instead of trying the work.”

The seven-time Mr. Olympia prefers the proven, slow, and steady method for weight loss or gain. Arnie said that every time people attempt to lose weight too quickly, they end up putting the weight back on. Elon Musk and Charles Barkley didn’t just rely on Ozempic. “I’m working out, I’m taking my shot once a week,” Barkley had earlier said in an Instagram post. Similarly, Musk didn’t stop working out after losing weight.

In the past, Schwarzenegger had highlighted how knock-off drugs were fooling people into thinking it has the same benefits as Ozempic.

Arnie warned people about a marketing ploy

Ozempic rose to popularity because people got results shortly after opting for the drug. However, the popularity created massive demand, and some have taken advantage of the craze to flood the market with knock-off versions of Ozempic. In a past newsletter, Schwarzenegger highlighted Berberine, a drug marketed as “nature’s Ozempic.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger warned people that Berberine had a fraction of the benefits of the weight loss drug. “Berberine is nothing like Ozempic, not in how it works or the results it provides,” Schwarzenegger warned potential buyers. According to the bodybuilding legend, even “the most optimistic studies”  have talked about how this drug only leads to a few pounds of weight loss, that too, over several months. While Berberine isn’t harmful, Schwarzenegger wants people to make an informed choice instead of an influenced one.
