“She Was Obviously Crushed by That”: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Who Has a Son From an Extra-Marital Affair, Recalls Confession to Ex-Wife Maria Shriver

As the Netflix series, FUBAR’s buzz intensifies, bodybuilder turned Hollywood star, Arnold Schwarzenegger is ready to top it up with another on-screen hit. His Netflix documentary, Arnold, is set to premiere on June 7th, claiming to be the most candid feature on his life story till now. Therefore, it also involves confessions from his tumultuous phase of life encircling the divorce from his ex-wife and niece of former President John F. Kennedy, Maria Shriver, and his secret affair with his housemaid. 

Besides, he also talks about the moment when he broke the news to Shriver, and admitted that he has fathered a child with Mildred Baena, per Daily Mail. He explained his wife’s reaction, hinting at the emotional trauma. 

Arnold Schwarzenegger had to do the unthinkable

According to the Daily Mail report, the 75-year-old icon emptied his pockets on all the events that took place in his life, even the difficult ones, in the documentary feature. He didn’t hesitate to recall the emotional moment, when he had to confess his wrongdoing to his ex-wife, Shriver. In 1996, Arnold cheated on his then-wife by having an affair with the housemaid, Mildred Baena, who gave birth to their love child, Joseph, in 1997.

The times were unpleasant, and Schwarzenegger had to compromise on his relationship with his family and kids. The marked confession took place when the ex-couple sought a marriage counseling session in 2011 and was asked by the professional, “Today Maria wants to be very specific about something. She wants to know if you’re the father of Joseph.”

The truth was long due, hence, The Austrian Oak confessed in the documentary, “I thought my heart stopped. And then I told the truth. Yes, Maria. Joseph is my son. She was obviously crushed by that.” That year itself, the 67-year-old journalist ended their relationship and filed for a divorce. That’s not all, Arnie had another surprising revelation about his relationship with his son. 

Arnold Schwarzenegger had no idea

The 6’2 actor further opened up about his knowledge of being the father of his housemaid’s son. As per the source, the actor shared that he and Mildred weren’t aware of their son. Both deduced that Joseph was Mildred’s and his husband, Rogelio’s son. Hence, she continued her role as the maid at the Schwarzenegger home.

However, Arnie and others came to accept the fact that he was the father over time. “In the beginning, I really didn’t know, but the older he got, the more it became clear to me,” he said. After the confession, the situation worsened as the family tried to keep it “quiet.” Arnold’s 25-year marriage ended after their divorce got finalized late in 2021, almost a decade after their separation in 2011.

Keeping it in the past, the multi-millionaire star has managed to maintain a positive relationship with all those he hurt, his ex-wife, kids, and even Baena. Nevertheless, he regrets messing up his marriage and family’s happiness and has accepted to live with it for the rest of his life.
