7 Second Video of Bored Mike Tyson Goes Viral

Back in the 1980s, an 18-year-old boy tiptoed inside the boxing ring for the first time, on March 6th, 1985. It was not just the debut of Mike Tyson, it was a beginning of a phenomenon that completely changed the sport of boxing. Although Tyson has retired from the sport, he is still a big part of pop culture.

Recently a meme went viral on the internet where boxing legend Mike Tyson can be seen sitting in an audience with a stick in his hands. Resting his forehead on the stick, the clip shows Tyson visibly tired and bored to death.

Notably, the clip is from UFC 277, but people have been using this short clip to define the Rose Namajunas vs. Carla Esparza 2 fight, claiming the fight wasn’t as entertaining as expected.

How Cus D’Amato designed Mike Tyson’s boxing style

The Kid Dynamite grew up in a rough neighborhood, which affected him significantly. In fact, the consequences of his behavior had him spend some time in juvenile detention facilities. But when the young Tyson developed an interest in boxing, he got a second shot at life in Cus D’Amato. The moment Tyson’s life transformed for good was when the instructor invited the young fighter into his own home.

D’Amato trained Tyson and wanted him to be different from any other boxer. Iron Mike even described in an interview how the coach designed his style. He stated, “I wanted to be very exciting. Cus designed my style to be very exciting. That was my main objective because you know there were guys that had long title defenses and held the title for a long time, but you know nobody would come to see their fight. They were boring. So he wanted to make sure that I was exciting.”

D’Amato was right to add excitement to Tyson’s boxing style, which eventually made him a huge star. From a young teenager with an interest in a jab to becoming the king of the ring, his life turned around and Tyson never looked back.
