The return of former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder to the boxing ring has been met with both anticipation and speculation. After a lengthy hiatus, ‘The Bronze Bomber’ returned to the ring to face Robert Helenius back in October last year. He would swiftly dismiss the Finnish heavyweight knocking him out in the first round. However, since then, Wilder has been inactive and is currently looking to get back into title contention.

Deontay Wilder slams Andy Ruiz Jr as fight negotiations derail

In an interview, Wilder recently voiced his frustrations with a verbal attack aimed at Andy Ruiz Jr. In a scathing statement, he belittled the Mexican’s physical attributes claiming that the fight would only be exciting due to a prospect of an early finish.

Andy Ruiz was only a champion for the blink of an eye… A short, fat fighter with small hands that make him look fast. That’s it. The only reason this fight would be exciting is because they wanna see how fast I would knock him out.” he said.

Wilder’s outburst showcased the intensity and competitiveness that lies within him, highlighting his determination to assert his dominance in the heavyweight division. However, while Ruiz Jr might not be the favorite to win the fight, he certainly plays the role of the underdog well. This was proved after he beat Anthony Joshua to capture the unified titles in a monumental upset.

Wilder recently warned Ruiz not to let his father come in between negotiations, claiming to have sent forth a lucrative offer. However, Ruiz Jr.’s father responded, calling Wilder a liar and asking for an even 50-50 split. Now, Wilder has come out and revealed why he did not send an even split for their matchup.
