40-year-old Chris Arreola doesn’t mind being the underdog against former heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr. However, that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t intend to pose a serious threat to the former champion as he seeks a victory.
Following a unanimous defeat to Adam Kownacki in 2019, ‘The Nightmare’ hasn’t appeared in action. Meanwhile, Andy Ruiz Jr. has remained inactive since losing his unified straps to Anthony Joshua in the rematch. While both the Mexican heavyweights seem ready to return, Arreola believes himself to be free of any pressure.
He connected with ES News to comment on facing Andy Ruiz Jr. and also opened up on his game plan, which can see him overcome ‘The Destroyer’.

Andy Ruiz Jr. vs Chris Arreola- How good is ‘The Destroyer’
Andy Ruiz Jr. might be in peak shape, and looking at his ongoing training clips, we cannot rule him out from the mix. Despite being inactive, he has made some significant changes in his camp. He is now under Eddy Reynoso’s stable and is training alongside several other world champions in Oscar Valdez, Ryan Garcia, and Canelo Alvarez.

Moreover, he seems to have shed some serious weight and looks ready ahead of a massive return to the squared circle. Although he is nowhere close to the current title ride, Ruiz Jr. can regain his spot by registering a win on his comeback. Nevertheless, it might not be a walk in the park for the former unified champion against a pugilist who has nothing to lose.
