“Boxing Need Me I’m Coming Back”- Shannon Briggs Pledges a Return to Action

Former two-time heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs spoke out through Fight Hype and shared his thoughts on a variety of topics. Briggs had some massive news that excited fans as he revealed that he had plans to make a comeback.

The talk of a comeback could be spurred on by the recent Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jr. bout. Several yesteryear fighters are looking to make a return to action, and Briggs is no different.

“Boxing need me, man, I’mma keep it real. Boxing need me. And I’mma come back for y’all I swear to god man on my dead mother man.

“I mean it, no disrespect to her but I’m coming back man. Y’all gonna see. I’m just working right now. I’m 49,000 years old man, but I’m coming back.

“Yeah man, I’m telling you I’m coming back I promise y’all. I ain’t gonna do y’all dirty like that I’m coming back man. I’m coming back to boxing.

“I don’t need no payday. Fu** a payday, I don’t need no fu**ing payday, I’m good. Don’t ask me nothing about my bread, I’m good. It ain’t for the money, the boxing game need me, man.”

Shannon Briggs dropped the revelation rather casually while sharing his views on the Anthony Joshua vs Kubrat Pulev bout. Chiefly, Shannon Briggs wasn’t too pleased with the way that Joshua handled himself after his win. What’s more, he also chimed in on possibly facing Mike Tyson in Tyson’s next ‘Legends Only League’ bout.

Iron Mike’ fought Roy Jones Jr. in a highly anticipated exhibition bout that was a commercial and critical success. Briggs wasn’t keen on fighting Tyson and he believes that Tyson wouldn’t be able to handle his in-ring presence.

Should Shannon Briggs follow through on a permanent return to action, a bout against Tyson isn’t a bad idea. The recent exhibition did spectacular numbers at the box office and could be the right exposure for a fighter fresh out of retirement.
